What Factors Correlate with First Page Rankings?

Backlinko.com did an SEO study of what factors correlate with first page search engine rankings.

Content continues to be important as average first page Google result had 1,890 words worth of content.  Keywords are important, but not as important as topics around those keywords.  In 2016, it is very difficult to write an entire article focused on 1 keyword, especially if that article is 1,890 words, so please start doing keyword research to create topic with sub topics before writing your content.

And as we all know, backlinks are still important.  They indicated that exact match anchor text was still very important as well.  Not several backlinks from one place, but unique referring domains:

“Google wants to see several different sites endorsing your page. And the more domains that link to you, the more endorsements you have in the eyes of Google.  In fact, the number of unique referring domains was the strongest correlation in our entire study.”

Take 5 minutes and read through their findings as it will only help with your SEO efforts.
